On July 3, 2024, our prestigious music establishment, Music School LA, earned its stripes as a fully-fledged member of the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM). This monumental milestone signified the culmination of an arduous quality assurance process kickstarted back in 2020, with our school's determination to secure NASM membership. The process involved an in-depth self-study, a rigorous on-site evaluation, and peer review by the Commission on Accreditation.
The accolade awarded by NASM, the nation's beacon for music education, promises immense credibility and visibility for Music School LA's diploma programs. Chief Academic Officer, Daniel Brummel, expressed his pride, stating, "Becoming an accredited NASM member signifies that we meet the finest standards set by one of the most revered accreditation bodies in the U.S."
Founded in 1924, NASM has been a pillar of American higher education in music for over a century. The association will celebrate its centennial at this November's Annual Meeting in Chicago, welcoming Music School LA as one of its newest members. This prestigious accreditation not only heightens our school's reputation but also paves the way for strategic goals such as enrolling in federal student aid programs, visa allocations for international students, and introducing degree programs.
Jay Ryall, our school's Institutional Director, highlighted the company we now keep. "We stand on the same pedestal as some of the nation's most illustrious music schools like Colburn, Eastman, Belmont, Pepperdine, Loyola Marymount, Cleveland Institute, and many more."
With approximately 618 accredited member institutions nationwide, NASM's mission revolves around advancing music in American life, setting thresholds for musical education standards, and fostering both diversity and excellence in a forum for related discussions.
