Park University and Metropolitan Community College have announced a new partnership that will provide additional support, resources, and affordability for students transferring from MCC to Park.

The agreement, signed during a ceremony on the University's flagship Parkville Campus on Jan. 24, 2024, will allow Park University to accept Metropolitan Community College's designated freshman and sophomore level education credits. Furthermore, MCC students who earn an Associate in Arts degree will be eligible for guaranteed admission at Park with junior status.

The agreement also includes a provision for transfer students from MCC to Park to be eligible for an annual $1,000 Park University Associate Degree Recognition Scholarship.

Park University President Shane Smeed and MCC Vice Chancellor of Instruction and MCC-Online President Dr. Thomas Meyer were in attendance at the ceremony, where they exchanged gifts to symbolize the partnership.

Both institutions are proud of their decades-long history of serving first-generation college students, including veterans. MCC Chancellor Kimberly Beatty, Ed.D. mentioned that the agreement with Park University demonstrates both institutions' commitment to creating greater educational opportunities for all.

While the agreement does not specify which bachelor's degree program at Park University the MCC graduates will be eligible for, it does provide a straightforward path to earning a bachelor's degree at Park.
