Sharjah Police unveils a number of steps in anticipation for the upcoming school year
Sharjah, United Arab Emirates — Sharjah Police have launched an extensive campaign titled "Our First Lesson is Safety" to ensure a safe and smooth start to the 2025–26 school year. The campaign, which involves collaboration with traffic, operations, security media, and community protection units, aims to reduce congestion, prevent accidents, and guarantee the safety of students as the academic year begins.
Key measures include the deployment of 98 police patrols around schools to manage traffic flow and enhance safety. These patrols will be strategically placed in Sharjah City, the Eastern Region, and the Central Region, with 51, 25, and 22 patrols respectively.
A mobile operations room will also be introduced to provide live broadcasts of road conditions near schools during peak hours. This initiative will enable rapid responses to traffic issues and ensure a smoother flow of traffic around schools. The mobile operations room will integrate with the Ma’man platform, which manages student emergency calls and tracks school buses in real time from pick-up to drop-off.
Public awareness will be a significant focus of the campaign, with content tailored for students of all ages being rolled out across traditional and digital platforms. The content will use videos, interactive ads, and simple messaging to reinforce safe behavior in and around schools.
Lieutenant Colonel Omar Al Aqroubi, Deputy Director of Traffic and Patrols, emphasizes the importance of school bus drivers conducting thorough post-trip inspections to ensure no child is left on board. Major Hussain Al Baloushi, Head of Community Patrols, announces teams will visit schools to engage students, teachers, and staff in promoting a safety-first culture.
Sharjah Police urge the community to take an active role in ensuring student safety and contributing to a smooth start of the school year. The campaign seeks cooperation from parents, school staff, and the community to support these safety efforts.
