Sheridan Teacher Clayton Christensen Wins $50K Award for Inspiring Welding Students

Sheridan High School's welding teacher, Clayton Christensen, has been honoured with a prestigious award. The 2008 Wright High School graduate, now teaching in his hometown, has won one of 25 nationwide skilled trade teacher prizes from Harbor Freight Tools for Schools. The prize comes with $50,000 and aims to recognise outstanding skilled trade teachers and promote trades education.

Christensen, a Sheridan native, entered his school into the contest to secure upgraded tools for his welding program. His dedication to promoting skilled trades as a viable career path for students has been recognised by the prize. With the $50,000 award, Christensen plans to invest in new equipment and resources for his classroom, further enhancing the learning experience for his students.

Christensen's passion for welding began during his own high school years. After graduating, he pursued a career in the field and later returned to his alma mater to inspire the next generation of skilled tradespeople. His commitment to his students and his trade has earned him this well-deserved recognition.

Clayton Christensen's win is a testament to the impact dedicated skilled trade teachers can have on their students' lives. The $50,000 prize will enable him to further enrich his welding program at Sheridan High School, encouraging more students to consider skilled trades as a promising career path.
