UNICEF Nigeria has announced significant progress in expanding its Learning Passport digital education program, aiming to bridge education gaps in hard-to-reach areas of the country. The program, which is part of UNICEF's broader commitment to harnessing technology to close educational gaps and prepare children for the future, has now expanded to cover 21 states in Nigeria.

The Learning Passport program combines community engagement, technical training, and digital platforms to transform education delivery and outcomes across the nation. UNICEF trained 52 state technical teams to support children's digital learning in their respective regions.

One of the states that have seen impressive results from the Learning Passport program is Kano State. In Kano alone, the program had an impressive 86% completion rate, with 1,978 of the enrolled learners being girls. Across Nigeria, 44,800 learners benefitted from the Learning Passport platform, with 20,967 of them being girls.

The partnership between UNICEF, Microsoft, and Cambridge University aims solely at strengthening education access and ensuring digital learning reaches the most vulnerable children. TECNO Mobile supports the Learning Passport program, contributing to its scale-up. However, UNICEF clarified that while TECNO Mobile's support is crucial for scaling up the initiative, the organization does not endorse any company, brand, product, or service.

The Learning Passport platform provides quality digital education resources, contributing to the global vision of delivering inclusive, equitable, and quality education to every child. The program is designed to provide continuous learning opportunities to children and youth in areas with limited access to quality education.

As the Learning Passport program continues to expand, it is expected to make a significant impact on education in Nigeria, bridging gaps and ensuring that every child has the opportunity to succeed in the digital age.
