The British School New Delhi marks twenty years of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme's existence.

The British School New Delhi (TBS) marked a significant milestone on Tuesday, 16 September, as they celebrated 20 years of offering the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). This prestigious event, named IB@20: Inspiring Futures, brought together educators, industry leaders, diplomats, school partners, members of the TBS community, and other distinguished guests.

Dr Shashi Tharoor, a Member of Parliament, author, and former diplomat, served as the Chief Guest and Keynote Speaker at the celebration. In his compelling address, Dr Tharoor spoke about leadership and geopolitics, captivating the audience with his insightful words.

Vanita Uppal OBE, Director of The British School New Delhi, also commented on the profound impact of the IBDP on student learning. She highlighted that students at TBS demonstrate compassion, empathy, and responsibility for both local and global issues, and emerge as authentic global citizens. Ms. Uppal expressed pride and gratitude for the impact of the IBDP on student learning at the school.

The school, founded in 1963 by the then British High Commissioner and his wife, draws on the best facets of a rich and culturally diverse community. It offers high quality education to British, expatriate, and local families, and has been rated as one of the Top 3 Private Schools in India and the Top 150 Private Schools worldwide for the second consecutive year.

More recently, TBS was awarded the Top British International School of the Year in 2018. The head of the school, Mr. Stuart Surridge, represented TBS at the IB@20: Inspiring Futures celebration. Guests were treated to a special video message from Olli-Pekka Heinonen, Director General of the IB, who congratulated the school and extended his best wishes on reaching the significant milestone of 20 years of IBDP.

Ms. Uppal also expressed her gratitude for the support of the TBS community, stating that students excel academically and emerge as authentic global citizens. The event was a testament to the school's commitment to providing a world-class education and fostering a community of compassionate, empathetic, and responsible individuals.
