Think Tank Lab Launches to Foster German Think Tank Innovation
The German think tank landscape is set to evolve with the launch of the Think Tank Lab, an initiative aimed at fostering collaborative growth and innovation. Led by Dr. Melanie Vogel, who also heads the Impact & Innovation Lab at the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP), this new platform seeks to learn from experiences and build knowledge collectively.
The Think Tank Lab is structured around three key pillars: the Community of Practice, Think Tank School, and Think Tank Toolbox. The Community of Practice encourages peer learning and cooperation, allowing think tank staff to share insights and best practices. The Think Tank School offers further training to expand skills and networks, while the Think Tank Toolbox shares findings, good practices, and useful information with the wider community.
The lab's co-creative approach aims to build on the rich history of think tanks, which originated during World War II as safe spaces for strategizing. Roderick Kefferpütz, a Senior Analyst at MERICS, and Claire Luzia Leifert, Head of the Impact & Innovation Lab at DGAP, are introducing the Think Tank Lab in their third and final article of a series.
Under the leadership of Dr. Melanie Vogel, the Think Tank Lab is poised to significantly impact the German think tank landscape. By fostering collaboration, knowledge sharing, and skill development, this initiative promises to drive innovation and advance the role of think tanks in shaping policy and international dialogue.
