Training opportunities enhanced with the introduction of two additional professions by Bremenports

In an effort to combat the skilled worker shortage in various sectors, the public Port Management Company in Bremen has announced the launch of a three-year vocational training program for future inland navigation apprentices (m/f/d).

The training, set to commence from August 1st, will take place in the Bremen ports. It encompasses learning about classic tasks of inland navigation, as well as work on dredging, water injection, and transport ships as part of port maintenance.

The basic requirements for the apprenticeship include a school leaving certificate (at least secondary school), an interest in shipping, and a willingness to take on responsibility. Initially, two future inland navigation apprentices are sought for the first training year.

The practical part of the training will be learned on the various ships of the bremenports fleet, while the theoretical part will take place at the Berufskolleg Rhein in Duisburg. The city that hosts the Berufskolleg Rhein is Duisburg, where the theoretical training of future inland navigators and inland navigation captains takes place in block lessons.

Senator for the Ports, Kristina Vogt, has expressed her support for the training program, calling it a "real investment against the shortage of skilled workers." The training program is considered a significant step towards addressing the current skilled worker shortage in many industries.

The apprenticeship program is open to individuals who are suitable and personally interested. Upon completion, apprentices will have the opportunity to become inland navigation captains (m/f/d) with the corresponding captain's patent.

For more information about the apprenticeship, interested candidates can visit bremenports.de. The Port Management Company looks forward to welcoming the first batch of apprentices as they embark on this exciting journey towards a career in shipping.

Training is costly and requires effort, but it is seen as a solution to the issue of the skilled worker shortage. The Port Management Company is committed to providing a comprehensive and high-quality training program to equip the next generation of inland navigators and inland navigation captains with the skills they need to excel in their careers.
