Universities collaborate with GCash to provide students with financial education through lectures
GCash, a leading digital financial services platform in the Philippines, is expanding its reach to the next generation of Filipinos through a series of financial literacy bootcamps. Ten universities have already confirmed their participation, with more expected to join in the coming months.
The program, named "The GMindset: Gear Up Your Financial Game," is part of GCash's broader mission to democratize financial access for every Filipino. By equipping students with the knowledge and tools to build long-term saving and investing habits, GCash aims to advance its vision of Finance for All.
The first two bootcamps were held at Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) and Far Eastern University (FEU). The upcoming series schedule includes Adamson University on September 9, University of the Philippines (Clark) on September 19, Ateneo de Manila University on September 20, and Centro Escolar University Manila on September 24.
Participants in these bootcamps will learn practical lessons on financial goal-setting, savings, investment psychology, and trading strategies. John Garcia, head of customer success for wealth management at GCash, emphasizes the importance of these workshops, stating that many young Filipinos are eager to learn about financial management but may not have access to the right platforms and guidance.
In addition to workshops, each bootcamp leg offers mentorship and access to GCash's suite of financial services that promote inclusion and empowerment for the youth sector. GSave, which allows users to open a savings account with partner banks within the app, and GInvest, GCash's one-stop shop for personal investment products, are central to these services.
GCash also offers on-site GCash Visa Card printing, a dedicated career opportunities booth, and personalized assistance for GSave and GInvest registration. Close to five hundred students actively participated in the on-campus activities, demonstrating a strong interest in financial education.
Arjun Varma, GCash general manager for wealth management, expresses that this initiative aligns with GCash's mission of fostering a culture of financial inclusion for all, by empowering young people to build positive habits early.
In collaboration with three more universities - Ateneo de Manila University, De La Salle University, and University of the Philippines - GCash will conduct financial literacy bootcamps as part of its ongoing partnership with these institutions. The series will continue to expand, with more schools and dates to be announced soon.
By reaching the next generation of Filipinos early and making financial education both practical and engaging, GCash continues to advance its vision of Finance for All. For more information about GCash and its services, visit https://www.gcash.com.
