University of Rochester Appoints New CTRC Director to Boost Oral Health Research
The University of Rochester's Eastman Institute for Oral Health (EIOH) has appointed Dorota Kopycka-Kedzierawski, DDS, MPH, as the new director of its Clinical and Translational Research Core (CTRC). She aims to strengthen and expand the research portfolio, develop training programs, and encourage faculty and residents to participate as new investigators and mentors.
The CTRC manages various research projects funded by NIH, HRSA, NYS Department of Health, and industry, including studies on Early Childhood Caries and dental implant outcomes. Dr. Kopycka-Kedzierawski, who also serves as a node director for the Northeast Region and a professor in the Department of Dentistry, brings extensive experience to the role. She is the principal investigator of the NIH-funded project, Integrating Oral Biology and Behavioral and Social Mechanisms for ECC Onset.
EIOH's research programs cover areas such as oral infectious diseases, dental caries, salivary diagnosis and therapy, and practice-based research. The CTRC facilitates EIOH resident and dentist research projects by assisting with grant applications and RSRB guidelines. Dr. Kopycka-Kedzierawski's leadership in EIOH's teledentistry initiatives has been recognized in the American Dental Association News and the American Association of Dental Research's Strides in Science.
With Dr. Kopycka-Kedzierawski at the helm, the CTRC looks to build on EIOH's success, which includes being ranked ninth among top funded institutions by the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR). Her appointment signals a commitment to advancing oral health research and education at the University of Rochester.
