Unsettling Public Urination Trend On Social Media Alerted by School District
In a concerning turn of events, a viral social media trend has taken hold in Lincoln, Nebraska schools, encouraging teenagers to urinate on bathroom walls and floors, as well as trespass on school property at night and defile school facilities.
The trend has been causing quite a stir, with multiple incidents reported at various schools, including Schoo Middle School. Lincoln Public Schools (LPS) has been swift in its response, sending out a letter to parents on Tuesday addressing this disturbing behaviour.
Principal Allysa Diehl of Schoo Middle School has been vocal about the issue, stating that this behaviour is not only unsafe and unsanitary but also creates unnecessary work for school staff. She emphasised that bathroom spaces are no-cellphone zones, and while students will still have access to restrooms, temporary adjustments in protocols may be necessary if the trend continues. This could include closing down bathrooms, limiting the number of open restrooms, and closely monitoring bathroom areas for safety.
LPS is also asking families to have a conversation with their child about respecting others and the spaces they occupy. They are encouraging students to report any information about those involved in these incidents, either by telling a staff member or using the green 'Safe to Say' button on their website.
Any students who engage in this disruptive behaviour will face disciplinary consequences and potentially legal consequences, according to LPS. However, at the time of writing, there is no publicly available detailed information identifying the specific students involved or their responses to the disciplinary and potential criminal consequences threatened by LPS.
This is not an isolated issue, with various public urination accounts appearing on social media, affecting colleges, high schools, and middle schools across the country. LPS is working diligently to identify any students involved in these incidents and address the root causes of this troubling trend.
As the situation continues to evolve, LPS remains committed to providing a safe and respectful learning environment for all students. They urge everyone in the community to work together to put an end to this disturbing trend.
