UrFU Students Pitch Urban Revitalization Ideas for Yekaterinburg's Novokoltsovsky District
Students from Ural Federal University (UrFU) recently took part in a hackathon, focusing on urban planning tasks for the Novokoltsovsky district in Yekaterinburg. The event saw five teams of four students each present their visions for the area, incorporating ideas for modern residential quarters, greening, cultural centers, 'smart' city technologies, and transport optimization.
The hackathon was observed by mentors from 'Sinarа-Dеveloppement' and UrFU, and judged by Nikita Fomin, director of the Institute of Construction and Architecture at UrFU, and Daniil Znachkov, a high-ranking official from 'Sinarа-Dеveloppement'. The participants received expert evaluations and memorable gifts from the company.
The Novokoltsovsky district, located in the southeastern part of Yekaterinburg, is actively developing and already hosts several strategically important objects. These include the international exhibition center 'Ekaterinburg-EXPO', the UrFU campus, and the Palace of Water Sports. 'Sinarа-Dеveloppement' has plans to build 1.2 million square meters of housing in the district, with the first three complexes already completed and another three houses scheduled for completion between 2025 and 2026.
The hackathon provided students with a practical opportunity to contribute to the urban development of the Novokoltsovsky district. Their innovative ideas, combined with the expertise of the mentors and judges, could significantly impact the future of the area. 'Sinarа-Dеveloppement', with its substantial housing projects, plays a crucial role in shaping the district's growth.
